Time out -- Colonial Williamsberg style

On the road again

As Mike said we're heading to Williamsburg. Although the kids are sleeping again, the competition in the car is fierce. The GPS, fuzz buster, and cell phones are all vying for our attention. All the different beeps and buzzes make quite a symphony and I even suspect some blue tooth love between the fuzz buster and the GPS. See some other crazy Floridians on the road. Ttyl when we go back in time at Williamsburg.

The Backup Plan

Sunday night: January 11th 2008

I spoke with Dan, my brother-in-law on the phone. Dan lives in Poolesville MD. Dan is our boots-on-the-ground logistics advisor. I reviewed my plan to get into DC on the morning of the Inauguration : go into DC on the Metro via Franconia leaving Franconia train station at 3:30 am.

Dan's expert, veteran, inside-the-beltway advice: "Have a backup plan".

Well put Dan.

I will work on the backup plan. Right now the backup plan involves camping on the Mall the night before the Inauguration.

More details to come.

The Ticket

My ticket  from the Obama's Inauguration Committee came in the mail today. Not the first class, up -in-front ticket that I was hoping for, but good enough.

Now if Oprah would only respond to my Text messages.

Shout-out to Oprah: "Where are we staying?  You were in charge of the hotel reservations? "

The Deal

Friday, January 9th 2009

We are going to Washington DC to witness the Inauguration of Barack Obama on Tuesday, January 20th 2009.

This blog to follow the ups and downs of the planning of our trip, the driving up to Washington, the activities surrounding the Inauguration and our trip back home to Miami.

No small detail will be withheld.

Although we are not professional journalists , we pledge to be ethical in our reporting - fair and balanced and all that other Fox News style profession standards stuff.  And we swear we will not sell out to any political party, lobbyist, foreign power or special interest group - unless there is actual cash money on the table.

What about Cody

What about Cody?

Cody is not going. This is not a political issue. It is not because Cody failed to get his absentee ballot in on time. It is not because he was a late supporter of Barack.

Cody simply doesn't travel well in the car - not down the block,  definitely not up I-95 for two days.

So faithful friend, fearless canine reporter, intrepid cat chasher, you will be left behind... but not forgotten.
